NovaSim-Hardware - The Basis for Success

HiL-Hardware in NovaSim from MicroNova

MicroNova will compose your Hardware-in-the-Loop-Simulator from the following Hardware-Components:

  • Real Time Computer. You can currently choose from a broad spectrum starting with a simple Power-PC up to a Quadcore-Processor. For an even higher level of computing power there are available standard-PCs with multiple processors.
  • I/O-Boards. As I/O-Boards there can be used PXI-Bus-Boards. At present there are more than 1,300 boards on the market. In addition, the use of Compact-PCI-Boards and PMC-Boards on corresponding Carrier-Boards is possible.
  • Reconfigurable I/O’s. With reconfigurable, FPGA-based I/O’s a variety of functionalities are realizable which require very fast algorithms with resolutions in the nanosecond range. Examples include the collection and generation of motor signals, simulations with small increments or the simulation of serial buses.
  • Signal-Conditioning. Usually, the signals needed in the different applications cannot be generated directly by I/O-modules. The modular NovaSim-system provides a wide range of modules for the signal-conditioning, e.g. for current measurements, voltages, etc. Due to our broad experience we are also able to realize signal-conditionings for unprecedented demands in a fast and efficient manner.
  • Sensor-Simulation. In HiL-applications, the simulation of all sensors which are connected to an ECU is required. The range of sensors covered by NovaSim include simple temperature-sensors up to complex sensors such as Lambda sensors. Even for advanced sensors a fast adaptation is ensured in order to expand the test environment for the future.
  • Load-Simulation. HiL-Simulators often use original loads. If these sensors involve a high noise level (e.g. injectors) or if error images shall be simulated in loads, it is the load-simulation to be resorted to in many cases. NovaSim offers a variety of alternative loads, including ignition coils or high-pressure magnetic injectors.
  • Fault-Simulation. Complex electronics may cause complex errors during the life of a vehicle by unpredictable environmental influences. An unmistakable detection of the error cuts repair times and increases the customer satisfaction. The proof of the correct cause requires the simulation of all errors conceivable. NovaSim provides different fault simulations with versatile performance features.
  • Programmable Power Supplies. Programmable power supplies allow the replication of the on board electrical system. The wide range of power supplies supported by NovaSim extends from simple fixed voltage power supplies to power supplies with fast output of voltage curves. So, a comprehensive test scenario can be established.
