NovaSim-Software - The Brain to the Body

HiL-Software in NovaSim from MicroNova

For the simulation of powertrain- or chassis environments there are commercial simulation models on the market for nearly all conceivable application cases. To design your user interface, there is available a wide range of LabVIEW control elements. The graphical components go from simple displays to pointer instruments or the display of time curves. For special applications such as the injection- and ignition measurements, MicroNova offers powerful NovaSim-control elements. To link those with a Simulink-Model no programming knowledge is required – each user of a HiL-Simulator is capable to configure his own interface. The NovaSim-Systems cooperate perfectly with the environmental models of our partner TESIS DYNAware. The models are captivating by their very high accuracy in every detail.

Have you got your own models? No problem. Simulink and LabVIEW Models can be integrated easily, quickly and reliably into NovaSim. Talk to us!

Due to cost- and quality reasons, HiL-Tests have to be competent in regression testing and therefore able to run automatically. Because of the numerous different test automation systems on the market, the modular NovaSim-System includes a universal interface for Test Automation (TA). In this way, the operation with heterogenic test automation systems is made possible. The TA-Interface allows the work with Python (Python Software Foundation), EXAM (Volkswagen AG), ECU-Test (TraceTronic GmbH), PROVEtech (MB-technology GmbH) and TestStand (National Instruments Corporation). NovaSim is modular by design – that’s why further specific automation systems, if so required, can be added without any problem.

The connection of the I/O’s with the simulation model can be accomplished by both, Simulink and  LabVIEW. While LabVIEW is primarily used in stimulation applications, Simulink is employed in complex simulations. LabVIEW, on its part, provides example files. So-called Block Sets connect the I/O’s in the Simulink-Models. These are graphic blocks which allow the embedding and configuration of the I/O’s in Simulink-Models. The advantage of using Simulink is to generate complex models in script-controlled fashion. The following Simulink-libraries are available:

  • Standard I/O’s: Analog-I/O's, Digital- I/Os, PWM-I/O's
  • Communication Buses: CAN, LIN, FlexRay, customized buses
  • Activation of Resistance Cards
  • Activation of Relay Cards
  • Engine I/O’s such as the generation of crankshaft-, camshaft- and knock signals, measurement of injection and ignition.

These libraries are constantly expanded with requirements from customer projects.
