Interview with O2’s Heike Manshon and Zoran Gardijan
InNOVAtion: How would you evaluate the collaboration between the teams at O2 and MicroNova?
Heike Manshon: The flexible, event-oriented collaboration with MicroNova facilitates user-friendly implementation with short review intervals while developing Plan Manager. MicroNova provided optimal support for O2’s selected mix of classic specifications and time-saving prototyping in every phase of the project.
Zoran Gardijan: Collaboration with MicroNova was highly constructive at every point in time. Trust is important in project work, and it was always there.
InNOVAtion: How long did Plan Manager implementation take?
Zoran Gardijan: Our specifications were implemented very quickly. Overall, MicroNova developed Plan Manager and launched operation within seven months. We have defined further specifications to MicroNova to be integrated into Plan Manager.
InNOVAtion: In your opinion, what are the advantages to the new tool chain?
Heike Manshon: Data quality improved via definable consistency tests. Another advantage is more flexible data generation. Additionally, we are now working in a process-oriented manner with clearly defined release rules. The architecture in the MicroNova solution is future-oriented due to the use of joint modules in planning and configuration management.
Zoran Gardijan: The duration of development has become shorter, which has made it possible for us to reduce costs. We have already determined network quality and the shorter development time in a measurable manner.
InNOVAtion: How will things progress in the future?
Heike Manshon: One of the more immediate objectives in tool architecture is complete illustration of planning rules at one location within the tool chain. Thus, it will be necessary to define parameters and implement design just one time. Further CPM/CCM modules existing now and in the future will then base their application rules exclusively on that parameter database.
Zoran Gardijan: The systems should be further integrated to further increase efficiency. Furthermore, the new LTE technology has to be implemented and remain just as controllable.
