The software and systems company welcomed its 250th employee in April 2018: Juliana Ferreira dos Santos (28) joined the automotive team in Leonberg, which develops and supports test solutions for a sports car manufacturer in Baden-Württemberg. “I find being involved in so many development activities at the same time absolutely fascinating. The young, dynamic team in Leonberg and MicroNova’s excellent reputation made my decision very easy when I was looking for a job,” says the young Brazilian, who was born in Salvador.
Diversity in Practice in a Medium-Sized Company
Juliana Ferreira dos Santos undoubtedly meets all the requirements for the job. She grew up in the metropolis of Sao Paulo, home to 23 million people, and trained as an electrical engineering technician before studying physics in Brazil. She has been living in Germany since 2010, and successfully completed a degree course in Computational Mathematics at the University of Würzburg. After a spell as a working student in the IT field, the engineer completed a voluntary internship at Porsche Engineering, where she focused on simulation and software development.
“Any company must be grateful to have an employee like Juliana Ferreira dos Santos in their workforce. Studies repeatedly show diversity to be an important asset for success. For us, people and their skills are the crucial actor – and not their age, gender or origin,” says Orazio Ragonesi, who as CEO of MicroNova AG is also responsible for HR. He goes on to provides further evidence: At the time of its 25th anniversary back in 2012, MicroNova already employed people from 18 countries – with a headcount of “only” 150; today the number of countries of origin is 22.
Successful Growth at Currently Nine Locations
It is not just the number of employees that has seen strong growth over the past five years; whereas back in 2012, employees were based in Vierkirchen, Wolfsburg, Ingolstadt and at a sister company in Kassel, the MicroNova Group now has employees at nine locations. The new sites are Leonberg, Friedrichshafen and Braunschweig, as well as two locations of the Czech subsidiary cz.MicroNova s.r.o. Even so, the company is always aware of its roots. Evidence of this is the fact that MicroNova’s very first employees are still “on board” even after more than 30 years.
