BlueBinaries Acquires MicroNova’s Automotive Testing Business and Establishes NovaBinaries GmbH

The BlueBinaries Group has signed a binding agreement to acquire the automotive testing business of MicroNova AG. The business unit will be operated as an independent company under the name NovaBinaries GmbH within the BlueBinaries Group. The goal of the acquisition is to offer customers a comprehensive portfolio of software testing, validation, and test infrastructure solutions throughout the entire development process. The transaction includes the HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) systems business unit, the EXAM test automation platform, and Test Consulting & Services. With approximately 167 employees at locations in Germany and the Czech Republic, NovaBinaries possesses comprehensive expertise in the areas of HiL testing, ECU virtualization, CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment), and software validation for modern vehicle architectures. “The acquisition of MicroNova’s automotive testing business is a strategic milestone for BlueBinaries,” explains Kishore LM, President & COO of BlueBinaries. “The company’s technical expertise, strong customer focus, and market position ideally complement our existing portfolio. Test Systems for SDVs (Software-Defined Vehicles)

The automotive industry is in the midst of a fundamental transformation. Traditional development processes are increasingly being replaced by continuous, automated, and virtual development and testing procedures. With the integration of MicroNova’s Automotive Testing Business, BlueBinaries is strengthening its position as an engineering and technology partner for vehicle manufacturers and suppliers and expanding its offering to include market-leading test solutions. 
BlueBinaries’ strategic strengths include, in particular, its leading market position in the areas of HiL systems, test automation, and consulting and services in the testing sector. BlueBinaries’ solutions cover all testing requirements across the entire V-model.
BlueBinaries will supplement this portfolio with its own testing resources, which include its diagnostic platform with remote and predictive diagnostics as well as its “Battery Passport” solution. 

HiL-Plattform NovaCarts

In the area of HiL test systems, NovaBinaries offers a comprehensive platform under the name NovaCarts, which has proven itself with many OEMs and suppliers, particularly in the fields of high-voltage and battery applications, as well as in integration into overall systems.  

Test Automation with EXAM  

With approximately 3,750 users worldwide, the model-based software platform EXAM (Extended Automation Method) has established itself in the fields of test automation and test management. Test engineers define the expected behavior of a vehicle function once and then reuse this data across variants and test benches—from SiL (Software-in-the-Loop) through HiL and vehicle integration—while ensuring traceability from requirements all the way to test results.

Test Consulting & Services

Based on its extensive expertise in integration, software, and E/E testing, NovaBinaries also offers consulting and engineering services in the areas of testing, HiL, and ECU virtualization. 

Why Is BlueBinaries Acquiring the Automotive Testing Business Unit?

The development of embedded software and systems is increasingly moving away from the established, phased process characterized by the V-model toward an integrated, continuous, virtual, and automated approach for software-defined products. Validation is following this shift: testing is shifting from hardware-oriented to software-oriented. Virtual ECUs, software-in-the-loop, and cloud-based CI/CD testing are the fastest-growing segments of the testing market. To meet this demand, the industry needs partners who can provide these testing products and build and operate the necessary testing infrastructure. Even though the percentage share of HIL is declining in favor of SIL testing methods, the absolute market will continue to grow, as the volume of software to be tested is increasing exponentially—driven in particular by AI.

NovaBinaries brings testing technology with a broad installed base, as well as the expertise built up over years of joint development with major European OEMs. BlueBinaries contributes technical scalability, integration and operational expertise, a global delivery network, and customer access in India, the United Kingdom, Europe, Korea, and the United States. The combined offering focuses on testing electric powertrains and batteries, HiL integration, cockpit and connectivity testing, and the cloud-based orchestration of the “Software Test Factory” as part of test execution across SiL and HiL environments.

Software Test Factories

Looking ahead, NovaBinaries aims to play a leading role in the development of software test factories that combine virtual test environments, cloud-based CI/CD processes, and physical HiL test systems into an integrated test platform. Complemented by the use of artificial intelligence, this approach is intended to accelerate test processes, detect errors earlier, and significantly shorten development cycles. 

Full continuity under the new CEO, Dr. Tobias Kreuzinger

All employees of the Automotive Testing division will transfer to NovaBinaries. Locations, contact persons, products, product roadmaps, and support will remain unchanged. Existing customer and partner contracts will also remain in effect without change. 
Effective October 1, 2026, Dr. Tobias Kreuzinger will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer of NovaBinaries GmbH. A doctor of engineering, he has nearly two decades of international leadership experience in the automotive industry as well as in the fields of software development, testing, and validation. His career to date includes senior management positions at Bosch and ETAS, where he also spent several years working in the U.S. and Japan.

NovaBinaries continues to operate from its locations in Vierkirchen near Munich, Kassel, Braunschweig, and Stuttgart, as well as in Mladá Boleslav, Jablonec nad Nisou, and Plzeň in the Czech Republic.
